December 2005 – Present:  MasterCard Worldwide, O’Fallon, MO

Product:  Web-based application for enhancing corporate credit card transaction data, generating corporate accounting reports, and exporting enhanced transaction data.

Audiences:  Bank IT staff, accounting staff, and corporate credit card users.

Responsibilities:  Working from business requirements and use cases, develop guides for 14 distinct classes of users in up to 13 languages.  Generate a PDF file and equivalent HTML help set for each guide in each language.  The last major release comprised 97 PDF files and 84 HTML help sets.  The guides share content and use FrameMaker’s conditional text feature to customize content for each manual.  A custom WebWorks template builds help for all packages.

Localization involves any or all of the following tasks:

·         Prepare sample product data and screen captures in each of 13 languages.

·         With team members, review the translated documents and return comments to the vendor. 

·         Perform DTP (formatting) for the translated documents. 

·         Build help sets for each manual in each language and deliver to the product build coordinator.

Miscellaneous accomplishments:

·         Served on the internal team responsible for documenting departmental writing, editing, and production processes.

·         Wrote internal procedures for topics such as building complex manuals, accessing the product database, and preparing sample data for use in documentation examples.

·         Provided WebWorks and FrameMaker expertise to teammates.

·         Converted two manuals from MS Word to the department’s Arbortext/XML DTD. 

·         Converted a non-standard Word manual to the department standard Word template.

·         Developed a FrameMaker-to-Arbortext conversion map using FrameMaker’s conversion utility.

Responsibilities: Solely responsible for all customer documentation. Produce multiple printed manuals and HTML help sets from a collection of Framemaker source files. Gathered information by interviewing engineers, using preliminary builds of products, and studying program source code. The document set included the following types of documents:

·         User guides (2000 pages total) for products that performed data analysis, graphing, process modeling using neural networks, process optimization, modeling plant emissions, and generating reports.

·         Tutorials for model building and application development.

·         Installation guides (200 - 400 pages each) for Windows, UNIX, and OpenVMS systems.

·         Programmer references (500 pages total) described the APIs and provided general guidelines for programmers writing custom applications.

·         On-line help generated from FrameMaker sources using WebWorks.

Other: Developed Pavilion internal web site using Microsoft FrontPage. Assisted Information Technology group with UNIX system administration tasks.

Responsibilities: Maintain user guide and online help files for a data analysis server that provided tools for analyzing multiple-gigabyte retail transaction data sets.
